  75. 3.      Installation
  76.  
  77.         If the Elsa OS/2 driver version 2.01 installed, begin with 1) and
  78.         ignore the following statemants.
  79.  
  80.         To guarantee a successfully instalattion, be sure to have the VGA
  81.         driver installed. If it isn't so, it can be easy done by the setvga
  82.         command.
  83.  
  84.         Open a OS/2 window and type in the directory c:\os2 :
  85.  
  86.         setvga bootdrive:
  87.  
  88.         and follow the instruction.
  89.         After that reboot the system and continue with 1.
  90.

  93.        1)  Go to OS/2 full or window screen.
  94.  
  95.        2)  Type the following line:
  96.  
  97.            a) OS/2 System with REXX support
  98.  
  99.               a:os2\install
  100.  
  101.            b) OS/2 System without REXX support
  102.  
  103.               a:os2\install2 [installdrive:] [bootdrive:]
  104.  
  105.               (the 'ELSA Video Configuration' program will not be installed)
  106.  
  107.            The installation program creates a directory (Default :
  108.            bootdrive:\WINOS232) and copies all necessary files into this
  109.            directory. Then it starts DSPINSTL.EXE.
  110.  
  111.            You have to start with the installation from the diskette, like
  112.            it is described above.
  113.  
  114.  
  115.        3)  The "Display Driver Install" dialog box will be displayed.
  116.            Choose the "Primary Display" option.
  117.  
  118.        4)  Under the next menu select:
  119.              "ELSA WINNER 1000/2000"
  120.            or
  121.              "ELSA WINNER 100VL"
  122.  
  123.        5)  Under the next menu select:
  124.            "640x480x256#60".
  125.            The standard VGA resolution (with 60Hz) will be installed.
  126.  
  127.        6)  The Source Directory menu will be displayed. Set the
  128.            source directory to the appropriate drive and proceed
  129.            with the Install option. (Select "Change", replace "a:"
  130.            with "." (point) for the current directory, select
  131.            "Set" and then "Install".)
  132.  
  133.        7)  The installation may pause and display prompts to
  134.            overwrite certain files. Please answer "yes" for each file.
  135.  
  136.            Under certain circumstances you will get a messgage that the
  137.            video adapter isn't supported. Confirm this and continue with
  138.            the installation.
  139.  
  140.        8)  Select "OK" in the next displayed menu.
  141.  
  142.        9)  You will be ask to install the 'Elsa Video Configuration Editor',
  143.            answer with 'Y'es.
  144.  
  145.        10)  Shutdown the system and restart OS/2.
  146.  
  147.        11)  With the Utility 'Elsa Video Configuration' you can select the
  148.             desired video mode.
  149.             After the next boot, this mode is active.

  153. 4.      Notes
  154.  
  155. 4.1     Update from Elsa Driver Version 2.01 :
  156.  
  157.         You don't have to use the DEINST.EXE. See under 3.
  158.

  160. 4.2     WIN-OS/2 Configuration :
  161.  
  162.         To change the standard configuration, edit the system.ini.
  163.         In the section [winner.drv] you can modify the xres, yres and the
  164.         hz entries. Or use the Windows program WinMan.
  165.         The winner08.drv (in WINDOWS.DR@) later Version 3.2X is valid.
  166.  
  167.         You find the program WINMAN.EXE and the other drivers on the
  168.         GUI-Driver Disk.
  169.         To install the WINMAN.EXE and the drivers:
  170.  
  171.         - expand the packed file with:
  172.           EXPAND /R A:WINMA???.??_
  173.           (you find EXPAND.EXE in the WINOS2 directory)
  174.           EXPAND /R A:WINNER16.DRV  (for 16bpp)
  175.           EXPAND /R A:WINNER32.DRV  (for 32bpp)
  176.         - copie the files in the WINOS2\SYSTEM-directory
  177.         - install this program with:
  178.           File - New - Programm ...
  179.  
  180.         You can use the ONLINE-Help.
  181.  
  182.         If WINMAN request fonts, expand it from the GUI - disk.

  213.         You need 1MB VRAM on a WINNER 100VL to use a resolution more
  214.         than 640 x 480.

  216.         The video refresh rates can be modified with the DOS winsetup
  217.         under DOS or in a DOS-Fullscreen session. (Not for WINNER 100VL)
  218.         The driver will use the new mode after booting. The "Elsa Video
  219.         Configuration Editor" show all of the programmed (winsetup) modes
  220.         for selection.

  224. 6.      Caveats / Known Problems
  225.  
  226. 6.1     MMPM.EXE (OS/2 Digital Video Player):
  227.  
  228.         with the WINNER 2000 ISA/EISA Release D the system hangs.
  229.  
  230. 6.2     WINOS2
  231.  
  232.         With some monitors, you can't use an other refresh rate as the
  233.         WPS. In this case you will see a black screen (or something else)
  234.         on the WINOS2 Session.
  235.  
  236.         WINNER 2000 ISA/EISA D-Release :
  237.         Sometimes, it is possible that the screen is black after starting
  238.         the WINOS2-Fullscreen-Session. If that happens, close
  239.         the session with Alt+F4 and press enter.

  242. 7.      Driver Notes
  243.  
  244.         To reinstall the previous driver :
  245.  
  246.         1. execute setvga bootdrive:
  247.         2. delete the files :
  248.             -WINOS232.dll (bootdrive:\os2\dll)
  249.             -BVHSVGA.dll  (bootdrive:\os2\dll)
  250.         3. install the WINNER-Driver you want or others.
  251.  
  252.         this must be done, cause the dspinstl.exe can't copy files with a
  253.         lower version number.
